A simple and scriptural guide to installing and worshipping the Narmadeshwar Shivling at home.
Rules for Installation
- 1.The Jaldhara (water outlet) of the Shivling should always face North.
- 2.For a home mandir, a Shivling ranging from thumb-size to 6-8 inches is considered highly auspicious.
- 3.Narmadeshwar Shivlings are Swayambhu (self-manifested). They do not require Prana Pratishtha and can be worshipped directly.
Daily Jalabhishekam Method
After your morning bath, take pure water in a copper or brass vessel. If possible, add a few drops of Gangajal and some unbroken rice grains (Akshat).
Mantra Chanting:
“ॐ नमः शिवाय”
(Continuously chant this Panchakshari mantra while pouring water)
After the Abhishekam, apply a Tripundra (three horizontal lines) using Bhasma or Sandalwood paste. Offer Bilva leaves (Belpatra) ensuring the three leaflets are intact.
