Sawan Somvar Puja Vidhi for Narmadeshwar Shivling
The month of Shravan (Sawan) is highly auspicious for Shiva devotees. Performing Jalabhishekam on a Narmadeshwar Shivling on Sawan Mondays (Somvar) multiplies the spiritual merits infinitely.

Step-by-Step Home Puja Guide
1. Direction and Setup
Ensure your Shivling is placed on a proper Brass or Marble Jaldhara. The Yoni (spout) of the Jaldhara must always point towards the North. You should sit facing East or North.
2. The Abhishekam (Bathing Ritual)
- Begin by offering pure water (mixed with a little Ganga Jal).
- Offer unboiled cow's milk.
- Offer curd, ghee, honey, and sugar (Panchamrit).
- Finally, offer pure water again to clean the Shivling.
- Mantra to chant:
Om Namah Shivaya
3. Offerings (Arpan)
- Apply Tripundra (three horizontal lines) using sandalwood paste (Chandan). Do not use turmeric/Haldi.
- Offer unbroken rice grains (Akshat).
- Offer Bilva leaves (Bel Patra). Ensure the smooth side touches the Shivling.
4. Aarti and Prayer
Light a cow ghee diya and incense. Perform the Shiva Aarti and pray for the well-being of your family. Because you are worshipping a Narmadeshwar Shivling, you do not need to worry about complex temple rituals. Devotion is all that matters.
