Sawan Mahina 2026: The Ultimate Worship Guide
Sawan Mahina (the month of Shravan) is the most sacred month in the Hindu calendar, dedicated entirely to the worship of Lord Shiva. As we look forward to Sawan Mahina 2026, devotees are already preparing their homes and home mandirs to welcome the immense spiritual energy this month brings.
If you have a Narmadeshwar Shivling at home, Sawan is the most powerful time to perform daily Jal Abhishekam.
When is Sawan Mahina 2026?
In 2026, the holy month of Sawan begins in late July and continues through August. (Note: Exact dates vary slightly between the Purnimant and Amavasyant calendars followed in North and South India respectively. Please consult your local Panchang for the exact start date in your region).

Why is Sawan So Special?
According to the Puranas, the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan) took place during the month of Sawan. During this monumental event, a lethal poison called Halahala emerged, threatening to destroy the universe.
Lord Shiva heroically consumed the poison, holding it in his throat, which turned blue (earning him the name Neelkanth). To cool the burning sensation of the poison, the Gods poured holy water from the Ganges over him. This is why we perform Jal Abhishekam on the Shivling, especially during Sawan!
How to Worship Narmadeshwar Shivling During Sawan 2026
Worshipping an original Narmadeshwar Shivling during Sawan Mahina multiplies the spiritual benefits by a thousandfold.
1. Daily Jal Abhishekam
Every morning in Sawan, wake up early (during Brahma Muhurta if possible), take a bath, and offer a continuous stream of clean, cool water over your Shivling.
2. Offering Belpatra
Offer 3 or 5 fresh Bel leaves to the Shivling. Ensure the smooth side of the leaf touches the stone.
3. Chanting
Chant the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra or simply Om Namah Shivaya 108 times daily using a Rudraksha mala while sitting near your Shivling.
Make Sawan Mahina 2026 a deeply transformative spiritual experience by establishing a genuine Narmadeshwar Shivling in your home!
