Narmadeshwar Shivling Size Guide
Selecting the correct Shivling size is crucial for harmonious home worship. According to the Shiva Purana, a Shivling's height should never exceed the width of the worshipper's palm for home puja (grhastha puja).
The Vedic Size Rule (Pani Pramana)
The ancient scripture Manasara defines the ideal Shivling size as:
"Grihasta puja ke liye Shivling ki unchai, pujari ke haath ki chaudai se adhik nahi honi chahiye." The Shivling for home puja should not exceed the width of the worshipper's hand.
For most adults, this translates to 3 to 5 inches as the ideal home mandir size.

Size Recommendation Chart

Special Considerations
🏠 For Home Mandir (Grhastha Puja)
- 2 to 5 inches is the sweet spot
- Choose a Shivling with natural markings (Janeu, Tilak) for extra auspiciousness
- Always pair with a proper Jaldhara (drainage spout) for clean Abhishekam
🏢 For Office or Workspace
- 3-inch Shivling on a small brass base is ideal
- Promotes clarity of thought and professional success
- Low maintenance — can be worshipped with just clean water daily
🛕 For Temple or Ashram
- 8 inches and above create the strongest spiritual field
- Consider custom sizes (10–24 inch) available on special order
- Temple-grade Shivlings come with carved inscriptions and consecration-ready surface
