Complete Daily Puja Vidhi for Narmadeshwar Shivling
Performing daily puja on a Narmadeshwar Shivling is one of the most powerful Vedic practices for spiritual growth, peace, and prosperity. This guide provides a complete step-by-step methodology with traditional Sanskrit mantras.
🕯️ Before Beginning — Purification
- Bathe and wear clean white or saffron clothing
- Cleanse the puja space — wipe the altar with a clean cloth
- Light a ghee diya and incense (Chandan/Sandalwood preferred)
- Sit facing East or North
Step 1: Sankalpa (Divine Intention)
Take water in the right palm and state your intention:
"Om Vishnu, Vishnu, Vishnu... Aaj ka din, Narmadeshwar Shivling puja ke liye Sankalpa karta/karti hoon."
Pour the water at the base of the Shivling.
Step 2: Jal Abhishekam (Sacred Water Offering)
Pour clean water continuously over the Shivling while chanting:
ॐ नमः शिवाय (Om Namah Shivaya) — 108 times
Use a copper or silver vessel for best results. Water should flow through the Jaldhara spout smoothly.

Step 3: Panchamrit Abhishekam (Five Sacred Offerings)
Offer each of the five sacred items one by one:
| Item | Significance | Mantra |
|---|---|---|
| 🥛 Milk (Dugdha) | Purity of mind | Om Somaya Namah |
| 🍯 Honey (Madhu) | Sweetness in speech | Om Madhavaya Namah |
| 🫙 Curd (Dahi) | Prosperity | Om Vishwaya Namah |
| 🧈 Ghee (Ghrita) | Strength & wisdom | Om Rudraya Namah |
| 🍬 Sugar (Mishri) | Divine bliss | Om Shivaya Namah |
After Panchamrit, perform Shuddha Jal Abhishekam (clean water bath) to complete.
Step 4: Belpatra, Flowers & Dhoop
- Offer 3 Belpatra leaves (smooth side facing the Shivling)
- Offer Dhatura, Aak, or Marigold flowers
- Light Dhoop/Incense — Chandan or Guggul
Step 5: Aarti
Light a 5-wick camphor Aarti and perform clockwise circles while singing:
🎵 "Jai Shiv Omkara, Swami Jai Shiv Omkara..."
Step 6: Rudrashtakam or Shiv Chalisa
Recite the Rudrashtakam (8 verses praising Lord Shiva) or Shiv Chalisa (40 verses) for maximum spiritual benefit.
Shravan Somvar Special Puja
